Special Educational Needs

Special Educational Needs

In Sunnylands Nursery School each child is accepted as a unique individual. Sharing in the relationship already established with parents, an attempt is made to create a safe, secure, stimulating and happy environment in which all children can develop to their full potential.

At Sunnylands Nursery School we recognise that some children have special educational needs and/or a disability, and we will make every possible arrangement to provide for all educational needs. We work closely with other professionals such as speech therapists, educational psychologists and physiotherapists, depending on the needs of the individual.

At Sunnylands Nursery School we acknowledge the importance of Early Identification & Assessment of Special Education Needs.

We aim to support our families by:

  • Building relationships with our families before our children start nursery school
  • Gathering information about our children to support a smooth transition from home to school.
  • Observation, monitoring and assessment of all our children’s academic, social and personal development in order to identify any educational needs.

The Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator is Mrs Siobhan Morrow.

Early Identification of any needs for a child is our utmost priority.

Please inform us of any special educational needs your child may have when you apply to the school so that the staff can ensure that all our children’s needs are met to maintain the quality of provision for each child in our care.

Your opinions and views are welcomed and respected in our school and we have an open door policy to ensure you have maximum involvement in your child’s education.
